A hot-air balloon safari offers an entirely different perspective on Tanzania’s wilderness. Before sunrise, you leave camp in the darkness and make your way to the launch site, where the balloon slowly comes to life against the first light of morning.
As the basket lifts from the ground, the landscape opens beneath you. Rivers trace their way across the plains, acacia trees cast long morning shadows and wildlife moves through a world suddenly revealed from above. Depending on where you fly, you may drift over herds of wildebeest and zebra, giraffes moving between trees or elephants crossing the savannah.
No two flights follow exactly the same path. Wind direction determines the journey, making every balloon safari its own quiet adventure. After landing, the experience traditionally concludes with a celebration and breakfast in the bush before you continue with the rest of your safari day.

01 — BEFORE DAWN
The Adventure Begins
Your morning begins before sunrise with a transfer from your camp or lodge to the launch site. In the cool pre-dawn air, watch as the balloon is prepared and gradually takes shape while the horizon begins to brighten.
02 — TAKE-OFF
Rise With the Sun
After a safety briefing, step into the basket and prepare for take-off. The ground slowly falls away as the balloon rises above the landscape, often just as the first golden light begins to spread across the plains.
03 — THE FLIGHT
Drift Above the Wilderness
Float silently above rivers, grasslands, woodland and wildlife below. Your route is shaped by the morning winds, creating a different journey each time. Flights typically last around an hour, although the exact duration and route depend on weather conditions.
04 — AFTER LANDING
Breakfast in the Bush
Once safely back on the ground, celebrate the flight before enjoying breakfast in the bush. From here, reconnect with your safari guide and continue exploring by road, carrying a completely new perspective of the landscape with you.
